There's lots to do to get ready for your big day. Here's a list of reminders to help you on your way to Happily Ever After: 10-12 Months in Advance: Choose wedding date Discuss wedding plans and budget with fiance and all parents. Select your best man, groomsmen, ushers. (We suggest one usher for every 50 guests). Announce your engagement (including announcing in local newspaper). Help plan engagement party. Ensure that your home/renters insurance policy covers engagement ring. If it doesn't, purchase additional jewelry insurance. 8-9 Months in Advance: Meet with officiant (minister, priest, rabbi, etc.) to discuss the ceremony. Start compiling your guest list (including addresses). Begin making your honeymoon travel plans. Begin writing vows (if you.re writing your own). 6 Months in Advance: Arrange for your wedding party's transportation with a limousine. Visit gift registry with fiance. Plan honeymoon and book all accomodations. Update passports/apply for visas if travelling abroad on honeymoon. 3 Months in Advance: Get fitted for your tuxedo. Complete the guest list. Pick out and order wedding bands. Plan rehearsal dinner with parents. Choose gifts for your bride and wedding party. Order Grooms Cake. Get any immunizations that you may need for honeymoon. 1 Month in Advance: Make sure all men have been measured for tuxedos Ensure that any out-of-town members of your wedding party have sent in their measurements. Get your marriage license. Make appointments for personal grooming. Confirm honeymoon reservations. Arrange to move belongings to your new home. Inform auto/home/renter's insurance of marriage. (Discounted rates may apply) 2 Weeks in Advance: Attend bachelor party (Please don't drink and drive). Confirm hotel reservations for wedding night. The Week in Advance: Pack for the honeymoon. Get cash for gratuities and officiant's fee. Get traveler's checks or exchange money to foreign currency for honeymoon if necessary. Remind fathers, ushers, and groomsmen to pick up tuxedos on the day before the wedding. The day Before the Wedding: Pick up your tuxedo. Enjoy your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The Big Day: Double-check all details, wedding rings, marriage license, and transportation. Get to the ceremony on time. Relax and Enjoy your wedding!
